Question 4WS good or bad?

im looking at a couple 92 ludes, and one of them is 4WS(four wheel steering). and i wanted to know if you guys think this is a nice option on the cars. or are they a hassle. like fixing them or things like that. is it worth having. just to let you know both the cars are the same price. your input would be appreciated thanks.

Go to carsurvey.com They have reviews on every car and model. The reports are from actual drivers not the company that produces them. And by the way, I dont have the 4ws, but i have heard it is good, but very expensive to replace is broken.

4ws is a blast
There are more moving parts so the risk of a steering problems is greater. Aligning 4ws can be a pain in the ass.

love my 4ws lude. it's even better since the jdm h22a swap because I feel like i have the best of both worlds. the 4ws units were problematic because of poor soldering (or vibration causing cracks in soldering) but there are detailed write-ups on sites like this - about how to fix it yourself - and it only takes a couple of hours. i haven't been thru an alignment since ownership of the car - but since i'm recently lowered it's on my to do list - and it's more than likely best to stick to honda for that kinda work. ka-ching.

I took a suspension class last semester, we didnt get to go over much 4ws but he said there were problems, the addition of more linkage and the added complexity to the car design itself makes for more costly repair, 4ws is dead... the yukon had it for a couple of years but GM killed it as well.. the auto industry figured out a way to have similar effects of 4ws without it. Smart bushings made with differnt matterials can do similar things as 4ws. Also when it comes to alignment on the machine it does make it somewhat harder to align. In my opinion i would go the 2ws and get smart bushings and upgraded suspension.
