ATF in a C4 tranny and leak
what kind of ATF should I use in a C4 trany? should I use Dexron 3 or type F? i put dexron 3 in it so i could move it and it leaks more then it did before. it used to leak from where the shifter went in and that doesn't leak any more but on the back of the tranny on the passanger side theres some kind of thing that looks like it screws into the tranny. it has a hose attached to it. its leaking from there as well. any ideas?

Is the C4 a stock tranny out of an older car? If so what year? You may loose a tranny. I dont know if dex III and type F are compatible or not.

its a stock tranny from a 71 mustang. it seems to drive ok. i haven't really driven it that far though. when i got the car a few months ago the guy said to use dexron 3 in it. i changed the shifter seal monday and when i got it back togather i put 6 quarts of dexron 3 in it.
