Welcome to AF
A 1g bov will hold quite a bit of boost for a cheap price. Problems: Doesn't look bling, won't give you a great bov sound A Greddy Type-S is also a pretty good piece, for a lot more money. Most like the sound. Holds boost well. Problems: Expensive As far as Greddy, there's also an RS. It's not made to be recirculated, and the report from one member said the sound sucked. A few other companies, like HKS, make similar models that sound nifty but aren't made to be recirculated. If you're curious what that means, look in the faq on the front page. If you want sound clips, search for "bov sound clips" or something of the like. If you'll be attaching a Greddy, or other aftermarket bov, you need to get the appropriate flange for your UICP, or buy a new UICP. Overall, the idea is to get a bov that does the job (first), and suits your style (second).

Re: Blow Off Valve for 98 eclipse GS-T
It depends on what you want
the 1g's have the best bang for the buck and many others hold nice boost, but the *bling* is what cost ya.

deffinately recommend the 1gen BOV....
Great price...should be able to find an uncrushed one for about $30 and you will also need an adapter to mount it onto your stock UICP if you haven't upgraded it...

Re: Blow Off Valve for 98 eclipse GS-T
I remeber reading somewhere that these cars should have the boost recirculated (spelling?) because if you vent the computer doesn't account for that and it runs bad. Is that true, and if you need to recirculate then it wouldn't make the sound right?

You even spelled recirc right. Yay. The ECU accounts for the air that passes through the BOV and adjusts the fuel trims to account for that addition of air in the intake. When it doesn't come, you run rich. This can cause your car to stall. And, when you recirculate like you're supposed to, the sound gets muffled. Some bovs are loud enough for most, at least, even when recirc'd. The Greddy Type-S is an example. Some choose to run their bov vented (non-recirc) because they're ricers, or simply have no problems. A few prominent members on this board vent after tightening the Type-S screw fully, and are good to go. The real solution to venting and not running rich is running an MAFt setup. See Jake's sig. This costs money, and is only necessary from a performance standpoint, after you see a certain (large) amount of airflow. The 1g and Type-S are the money. Edit>> OT: Any story behind your sig, drew?

Re: Blow Off Valve for 98 eclipse GS-T
1g bov makes a nice crisp sound, not loud but better then the plastic sound. Got mine on ebay for 65, then an adapter for 25, both prices include shipping
