90 1.8 L Gl

Found this via a local email list... looked it over and drove it last night.

120k miles, power nothing - $900
single owner, all the paperwork (everything done to it when it was supposed to be done, inc. timing belt, water pump, brakes, tires, exhaust - a perfect maintenance example)

1st problem - shifter very loose - I'm thinking bushings, not too worried about that. The clutch pedal is very high - brand new clutch, tranny is only a few years old. So I really think it's the bushings. The throw is a little long too - bushings may help, may need to shorten cables and/or add an ssk (for comfort : )

2nd problem - # 1 spark plug loose... this one worries me a bit more... it ran beautifully, but the plug was very loose... I suspect it's stripped. Not sure what the risk is there, and what I could do about it.

They are basically getting rid of it because they bought a mini cooper, and ran out of garage space : )

Shifter bushings & parts are easy to install & widely available. The stripped plug is repairable with an insert.

ah - I didn't realize you could use an insert! that's a good idea - just never thought about it...

We went ahead and picked it up - talked them down to under $700. Not that we need another car (this is #6)... but I've heard good things about these vehicles. Really just need a good interior cleaning and it'll be a nice daily driver.
