Ya, same thing happened to me, kinda. Friend came over and sprayed some degreaser on the valve cover and some dripped onto the heat shield and started to rust. I just took some brillo and wd-40 to it and it took most of it away. Don't really know if that would be good for chrome or not though.

Mothers chrome polish. You will have to exert some serious elbow grease, but you should be able to bring back most of the shine.

Re: Anyone knows? removing stians from CAI?

I know that it does work, at least on fucked up chrome rims. My buddy recently purchased a 3g with aftermarket chrome rims (see sig). Someone had used the wrong type of rim cleaner and it ended up staining all of the rims. He tried a couple different products and only had sucess with Mothers.

I will warn you that it took him 2 times to bring back the shine of the chrome and it still isn't perfect. But it is 1000x better than it was.

As far as price, I don't think it was too expensive.

Enjoy!

Re: Anyone knows? removing stians from CAI?

Ya might want to try some stuff called "Nevrdull" (eagle one) used it many times on rims and lots of other metal stuff and it worked awesome... first used it in the army for polishing shit from buckles to medals...
Works great for tarnish on rims!!! Made an old tarnished serving platter of my ma's look brand new!!

Re: Anyone knows? removing stians from CAI?

Try using some undiluted vinegar soaked into a soft cloth. This is an amazinginy cheap chrome shiner and might remove those degreaser stains w/ enough elbow grease. Another method that may work is a baking-soda paste. Just take baking-soda and add water so it turns into a thick paste. Then apply to crome and let it sit for few minutes and rub off. These are very effective methods using household items that should work assuming the degreaser(engine-cleaner) was not very abrasive. If the degreaser damaged the chrome then try using some steel wool since at this point you have nothing to loose.

Re: Anyone knows? removing stians from CAI?

Mothers Alluminum polish will work. Put some CLR first just to clean it up.
