Question What would be a better choice?

Sup guys

I have a '97 Eclipse and i was wonderin what would be a better idea for it.
Should i drop a 5 speed in it or should i just go out and buy another with a 5 speed tranny?
What would be the cheaper thing to do?

Thank you.

Re: What would be a better choice?

Sell it and get one with a 5 speed. It is so much work it is not worth it. Get one with AWD too(if you dont have it).

Re: What would be a better choice?

the 5-speed swap is much more complicated other than just dropping in a 5-speed tranny. you need shifter lines, clutch lines, master & slave cylinders, i believe you have to get a different ecu and some other miscellaneous parts.

Re: What would be a better choice?

I copied this from my post back in another thread.

your need-
shifter cables
manual transmission
clutch
possibly a flywheel
brake/clutch pedal
fluid lines
fluid container
shifting assembly (1,2,3,4,5 R-example)

edit- master/slave cylinder

some manuals won't mount up the same (or at all) in the same car with a auto.

you can be fast in a auto.

Re: What would be a better choice?

I agree... you can be very fast in an automatic.... If you run it at the track your times will be alot more consistent with an auto... Manuals are fun though... all in personal preference
