Koenigsegg vs McLaren F1 Thread

Something I don't understand Why the hell those "Koenigsegg" fans love to post topic over here ...

compare they 388km/h world speed record video (have no speedmeter detail on that video)

to remind you Koenigsegg fans ,McLaren F1 already reaching 391km/h!!!
http://www.runeb.org/www_docs/Jexoti...aren391kmh.mov

no metter how good is Koenigsegg CCR , it's class can't come close to McLaren F1 .

Ps: Compare a pure NA engine with a turbo charge engine ? and it's background (techno"toys" car compare to Formula 1 Racing "DNA" cars? )

Re: Koenigsegg vs McLaren F1 Thread

Koenigsegg is now the faster production car, it's a fact.
What's the problem ?
The Mclaren was build in 1993 and the Koenigsegg in 2005, there are 12 years of technologies between these two cars !
It was sure that another car breaked the Mclaren's record.
Why worry about that ?

We are Mclaren fan, they are Koenigsegg fan.
But a fan is not objective. He always try to convince others that his opinion is the good one.

Its price excepted ;-) , I love this car, don't care if its the faster production car or not.

Re: Koenigsegg vs McLaren F1 Thread

I love both cars. Most people do. That's why it's annoying when idiots like this Gustav fellow come here and post something as if to say "My car is better than yours". Very childish.

Hey Gustav, did it ever occur to you that we like both cars? Quit your pointless trolling.

Yep - I'm a fan of all supercars, save the Edonis. I can even respect the Bugatti Veyron of all things, though they have made a mockery out of that car with all the production delays.

Regardless of how fast someone is able to make a new car, I don't think I'll ever hold another in such high regard as I do the F1. I generally stay out of the 'pissing match' threads except to include or correct facts that might help the discussion. If this one goes sour, it will be closed.

It seems to me as if koinigsegg set out to beat the records rather than make the perfect car,how many times have they tried and tried and tried before finally making the car to work. The Mclaren just at a guess raised the rev limiter and removed wipers to set the top speed run.

Koenigsegg is just being particularly vocal because they have a product they're trying to market. The F1 has already established its place in automotive history, and has given McLaren a return on their investment (not on initial sales, but on maintenance). Since the F1 is widely regarded as the supercar with the best overall package, and the market is currently flooded with high performance cars, Koenigsegg has to convince people to buy one of their cars, and not a F1, Enzo Ferrari, Zonda, S7, Murcielago, Murcielago, Carrera GT, SLR, etc. What better way to market your new car than to compare it to the reigning king?

Before you get caught up in a childish flamewar with someone remember that most of the people sitting around arguing about these cars aren't the ones with enough money or skill to actually be able to drive one. And don't let Koenigsegg's propaganda diminish the F1 -- it can't.

Just because you beat the king in a pissing contest, doesn't mean you're the king. There's something about the F1 that keeps it up on the throne and keeps the used ones selling for well over a million dollars. Maybe there's something about the F1 that makes it worth the price, and lets it keep its crown...

It's definitely true, which is Koenigsegg's real intention to be much conscious for market rather than a certain pure performance check.

In case of Mclaren F1, in 1993, had been in Ring with XP4 for the purpose of public information work of media not sales but pure information announcement.
As you guys know, recently October 2004, the flemke drove his Mclare F1 fitted with high mirror in the Nuburgring.( In personal, which is remembered as such a way). More important fact to be here, is that although he is not a racing or professional driver but usual person, recorded 7:45* -- 159.484 km/h, which is very remarkable.

Since Mclaren XP4's first outing in Nuburgring, the reason that they didn't take it to there is that they worried to be shown to public as advertisement.

Interesting, that last post... I'm pretty ignorant about this subject, What are some of the better lap times on the Nurburgring? I read flemke's stuff and he said the Mclaren wasn't particularly well suited to the track.. I thought it did badly.

I have a video of Hans Joachim-stuck doing a lap of the Nurburgring in a BMW M3 GTR, I don't know how well the actual lap time correlates to the video time, but the video (from when he starts and finishes) goes for about 8:30mins..

Re: Koenigsegg vs McLaren F1 Thread

The Koenigsegg might be the faster car but I will always love the F1 the most an the middle seating arrangement is genious. Mclaren > Koenigsegg. I wonder who would be the better track performer?

Put the F1 bare chassis its like an F1 car but i cant see it being that with the 16/4 with its big displacment engine with 4 turbos vs. a 6.1L high revving V12 that V12 is a more suited engine for a track. The driving position is better for on the track. The weight makes it better on the track.

That lap combines both the GP course and the Nordschleife, so you can't compare Stuck's time to the other times.

Also, I haven't read about Flemke's laps at the ring, but most likely his time was recorded bridge to gantry and was not a full lap.
