cruise control seems off

Today when I was driving to work, i set the cruise just so i didnt speed. The car will keep speed down a straight away, but I noticed that it did not react at all when the car went up hills. I would set it at 60 mph, and go up a hill and it would go down to 50 or so and not recover until the road leveled out. WTF is with that? Do i have to bottle feed the damn thing and downshift for it by turning off the O/D? Anybody else notice that the cruise control is a little under sensitive, to the point that is hardly knows what to do when the elevation of the road changes?

Re: cruise control seems off

Unfortunately for some reason mine shuts off after being on for about 5min. Don't know what's up with that. But I have noticed going up hill my speed does drop a little bit (like 5mph-10mph)

Re: cruise control seems off

Mine keeps a steady speed everywhere. But, I did notice that when I set it, it sets it at like 5mph faster than wherever I set it. Never any problems with hills though... Maybe the speed sensor is going bad?

Re: cruise control seems off

mine works great except on uphills i always go faster cause of the turbo kicks in for a sec then lets go then kicks in and lets go etc etc...mine maintains 80 mph through the Colorado Rockies np.

never heard of something like that before, mines like nstyle's, sounds like some sort of a resistor issue, whenever its givin any feedback like uphill it doesnt work right, when going downhill does it speed up? sounds like an computer issue

it just dosn't seem like it is not recognizing that the speed is changing, and acts no different when going uphill after maintaining speed on a straight away. I always have to turn the overdrive off for a second, and it downshifts and gets back up to speed, and then I turn the overdrive back on it and dosn't downshift, so then it realizes that it needs to stay in that gear to keep speed. I shouldn't have to tell it to downshift in the first place, it should recognize that the speed is going down and do it automatically, thats it's job, to keep speed.
