dohc muffler on sohc neon

I just read on neons.org that if I put a dohc muffler on a sohc, that it would give me just as much of a boost in hp as any aftermarket muffler or catback. Is this true???? If it is then that would be soooo much cheaper.

Re: dohc muffler on sohc neon

My friend in school is making fun of me because Im going to get a dynomax system and he says a "resonator" would be better...so he expects me to just get a can like everyone else has. But knowing him...he says hes taking his 92 4-door Escort to Exhaust Pros and telling them "Make it buzzy and look good." and thats it. Hes a loser if you were wondering. But anyway I was wondering if normal muffler style ones like the Dynomax have more benefits than the canister mufflers.

Resonator. You might as well go get you a coffee can, put a hole in the end of it to put it on your muffler cause it would do just as much good. Don't make it buzzy. Buzzy is bad. I personally am wanting to make mine quicker before I make it look good. Go with the Dynomax man. Then make fun of your friend as you are blowing his doors off.

dyno max

hey other than the dynomax mufflers, edelbrock makes a muffler series called the rpm series..... nice sound not importy sounding, don't sound like a crotch rocket either..... goes for about 70-90 bucks. and its stainless.... nice look to it. and its also made specificaly for small displacment engines. i myself am cheap and am looking for an dohc muffler from a 98 rt. good luck!

Any DOHC muffler from a first gen neon will do. It doesn't have to be from an R/T.
