Prelude S Vs. Si Vs. Vtec
Hey, I am currently in a little argument with a friend over the three prelude models offered in 93 through 96. I know that there is a difference of thirty horsepower between the three, but I cant find the stock quarter mile times for any of them. I have heard the Vtec prelude can pull of a 14.9-15 flat, but i dont know if its true. Does anyone know the et's for these three different cars? Thanks a lot.

Re: Prelude S Vs. Si Vs. Vtec
Between the 3 there is a 55 hp difference. S-F22a1-135 hp. VTEC-H22a1-190hp.

Re: Prelude S Vs. Si Vs. Vtec
15 flat for a VTEC is being generous. It's more common for a stock VTEC to run mid-high 15's.

http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html It may be a little off, but should give you a general idea, if you car is even in there.

Well dont the last generation of preludes run like 15.2? I thought that since its the same motor and the 96s being lighter, i figured it would notch down the time a little. |

the 5th gen actually ran like mid 15's. 4th gen preludes vtec run around 15.3 quarter mile times.

Re: Prelude S Vs. Si Vs. Vtec
Actually the fastest I've seen posted for a stock 4th gen VTEC is closer to 14.9 (don't remember exactly). 15 seconds is possible under ideal conditions with a perfect launch and good shifts. It's just more common to run slightly higher times given that not every run can be a perfect run.

Yep, a good driver could yield mid/low 15s. An exeptional driver might be able to pull 14.9-15.1 or close to it. But most drivers aren't going to pull 14s with a stock lude.

Alright...so if I could get an Si to about 190hp, then i can hope for mid to low 15s as well?

Alright so what would you probably need to do to get an Si in the high 14s? Is there anyway to do it without touching the internals? Thanks a lot.

My guess is with all of the bolt-ons you'll add 20-25 whp, possibly a little more...depends on how well you do the tuning. But that doesn't seem like enough to shave a full second. Maybe an LSD to help with the launch. You'll get better results if you lighten the car - remove AC, power window and sunroof motors...if you do enough lightening and all of the bolt-ons I'd guess mid-14's.
