Connecting a Laptop to my truck
Hi,
I built the cable on the winALDL website (http://winaldl.joby.se/) only to discover my trucks computer won't talk over it. I have a '93 S10 2.5L 4cyl which is ECM 16156647 I believe. Is there a program (hopefully that uses the same cable) that will connect to my laptop to my truck? I need to see which sensor is giving a bad reading and causing a code 25. Thanks, Eric |

Re: Connecting a Laptop to my truck
I have a 93 s10 2.8L 2wd stick. The winaldl program talks to my truck with the cable I made. I'll report later what ECM it is.

My ECM is the same as for:
1992-93 truck 2.5 L4 TBI "A" L38 1992 truck 4.3 V6 CPI "W" L35 1994 truck 4.3 CPI "W" L35 w/ MT It should still read something with winALDL, I wonder if I got it wrong which is the emitter and which is the collector on my transistor. Is there a way to test for that with a meter? Thanks, Eric |

Re: Connecting a Laptop to my truck
My 93 s10 2.8L works with ecm 1227747. You might try all selections in winaldl to see if any decode it correctly. A NPN transistor read low resistance collector to base and base to emitter, high resistance vice versa. Pin 2 of the cable to the pc should be pulsing 0 to 12 v or 0 to whatever is on pin 4 depending on which drawing you followed.
