Ok, this is getting repetitive.

My last topic fizzled, the 00 Z28 sold a day before I was gonna go back a second time to try and talk the price down again. Oh well, it was one of my least favorite colors and not a T-top anyway. But I think I found a gem this time.

This guys over 100 miles from me, so as badly as I'd like to go see it I can't really. I've got 5k in cash now, and he wants 10,500 for it. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the other 5,500, as taking a loan out apparently isnt too feasable with my credit.

1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 T-Tops
63k miles
Auto
Stage-1 Ported Heads w/918 springs
SY3500 Stall Convertor
3.73 Gears
Alum Driveshaft
Granatelli MAF
K&N Lid
Cam 224/224 .570/.570 112ls
2001 Exhaust Manifolds & Cats
Dynomax Catback, There is an Exhaust Cutout with wing nuts so you can have open exhaust at the track
ASP under drive pullys
LS6 ported oil pump
EGR Mod
Ported Throttle Body
160 thermostat
Throttle body Coolent Bypass Mod
Tranny cooler
Transgo shift kit
fast toys ram air
TA Rearend Girdle
Tubular Subframe Connectors (welded)
Hotchkis Lower Control Arms
Strut Tower Brace
Pioneer AM/FM CD
Brand new 16" chrome wheels and new tires
Tuned with HP Tuners
On 4/21/05 ran 8.06 @ 86.43 MPH in the 1/8 mile at Irwindale Dragstrip.

What do you guys think?

Re: Ok, this is getting repetitive.

Go to the bank where you have a checking account show them the vin, pic's, and other info on the car and apply for the loan there. (If you don't have a checking account go get one). If they aren't total A-Holes they should be willing to finance 50%... IF the blue book is what you're going to pay. They may crucify you with a high rate (10% - 12%), but with bad credit... Pay the damn thing off as soon as you can (add $20, $30, $50 buck to each payment) and that'll help establish you as decent credit risk and open some doors for you.

You can always get a damn credit card and do it, but at 27.5% you'd be way better off at a bank. Besides, if they won't finance the deal that should be a good clue that you getting screwed on the car.

Good Luck.

Guy seems to know his stuff, the exhaust manifold "trick" is one not many people know about (2000+ had tubular manifolds, not too inferior to headers). Thing is, you can be SURE this car's been beaten to hell. make sure he has reciepts for the major work.

Re: Ok, this is getting repetitive.

Yea, I was thinkin the same thing (about the car being abused), he claims he only took it to the track once, but, I mean not like there's anyway he can prove it, and I'm sure it was driven hard on the streets. But still, these LS1's are really built to last aren't they?

Re: Ok, this is getting repetitive.

Like these guys said. This maro's probably EARNED every mile on it... you don't do all those mods and then drive it like a granny. You BETTER see this thing in person and look it over real good before you agree on anything.

By the way... Since when in the hell is all this bullshit about 1/8 miles times getting popular? Who the hell cares what the 1/8 mile time is? I've only heard about 1/4 miles times until recently. and as far as I'm concerned 8.06 in 1/8 of a mile = at least 16.12 seconds in 1/4 mile.., pretty shitty. Fastest acceleration is in 1st and 2nd - if a 12 second 1/4 is good, you better be looking at like a 6 second 1/8 to have anything to brag about... right?

I feel the sameway, all this talk about 1/8, what happened to the 1/4 mile? Is it getting played out Nfg2184, are you interested in 3rd gens? Can be had much cheaper and less hassle. With 5,500, you should be able to get one in great shape, with a 350 Tpi.

Haha, no, not at all. Think about it, 8 seconds in at 1/8 of a mile, you're already at 86mph. Theres no way it's gonna take another 8 seconds to go the next 1/8 because you're speed is already so high. Think more in the low 12's...
