96 golf won't start

I just bought a 96 golf the other day, and all seemed well, passed safety inspection and all of that stuff. Everything was working fine until tonight. The horn stopped working and we decided to change the fuse to see if that would fix it! After we changed it out we were getting ready to move it into the driveway, and it wouldn't start. The two are probably are not connected, but I thought I would add it just in case. It turns over but doesn't seem to catch. Up until now, it started on the first turn of the key. I really don't know that much about cars, so I am hoping someone may have a suggestion of something I can try. The garages are not open here tomorrow(sunday). Would really like to get it started!
