92 prelude idle problem

I have a 92 prelude S with a f22 motor and whenever I first start it up the rpms rev up to about 2500 then drop down to 1500 and revs back up again until it its warmed up then it idles at about 1200-1300 but it idles kind of rough (vibrates really bad) and when i give it gas it revs up fine but then drops down to like 1,000 rpms and kind of stalls like then revs back up to 1500 before it levels back out to about 1200-1300 rpm.I was wondering if anyone know what might be causing it do do this?

I had the same problem after I did my timing belt, I think it's because of the air flow going to the engine. There are like two screw near the injector where you can move them in order to have increase or decrease the amount of air. Sometime when the car is cold it start at 1500 - 2000 rev. but when it got warn the rev drop to 1000-1200 (the change is very rough). (check also: air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wire, distributor cap, distributor rotor.) I don't think those are the problem, but u never know. It sounds as an air problem.

Re: 92 prelude idle problem

Pull the duct off the throttle body, and cover the two holes, one at a time, to see if it idles correctly. If one corrects the idle, the little bugger that it's connected to is your guy.

Re: 92 prelude idle problem

yeah its most likely from a dirty throttle body. I would just take the whole throttle body off and clean it and all the parts attached to it. Maybe even get a new gasket for the manifold, cuz a vacuum leak could cause it.
