2001 Windstar rear wiper motor

My rear wiper died. No movement, no sound at motor at all when turned on.

I htink it is a bad motor, but any way to check this before I go and spend the 80 bucks?

Thanks....

I would first make sure it's not the fuse (check owners manual). Could be the stalk switch too, but I wouldn't how to check that. Anyone? Anyone?

Hello

I found that on the rear wiper motors they fail because the output shaft seizes up. On both my 93 Taurus and my 95 Windstar I took the motor apart and cleaned them up. Water is allowed to get in. Once the orginal grease degrades things get slower. The motor is still working on the Windstar. Taurus is gone.

Like the first poster said, check the fuse, and then the switch. Get a test light or a meter. Check for power at the fuse, pull the switch out and test for power there. Remember, the key needs to be on. If there is power at the switch, next pull the inside pannel off of the rear hatch and check for power at the plug on the motor. Make sure you have a good ground. If there is power at the plug, the motor needs to be either cleaned or replaced.

Regards

Dan
