1984 733i clickng from under the hood - linked to brakes ?

recently bought a 1984 bmw 733i. looks great seems to run great, until this morning.

started the car, and i hear a wierd clicking noise from under the hood, cant seem to locate it specifically, but when i depress the brakes (even in park or switching to drive or reverse) the clicking stops. release the brake and it comes back...brakes feel, and function normally just cant track down this clicking noise...

also on a side note and maybe unrelated, there seems to be a parasitic draw on the battery within the past few weeks, i cant track that either but im currently disconnecting the neg baterry cable at night so my battery wont be dead in the morning for work. is there a common issue with this model that i could look into ?

are the 2 possible related ?

thanks in advance for any info

clicking noise

I read a similiar post on roadfly.com's e23 message board (7 series 77-87) The majority of the responses mentioned something to do with the cruise control module causing the clicking. I guess that makes sense since it goes away when you depress the brake. You might check with the people on that board to see what they say. www.bimmer.org , go to message boards, then to e23. Hope this helps. Henry
