Cold air intake help

Hi, i am rather new to the world of cars and modding, i bought a 89 probe GT and so far i love it. i bought it with preformence muffler already on it with a K&N air filter, however I want to put a cold air intake it. i have found an adapter(viberant) to mount the air filter straight onto the MAS sensor but there is a small vacume hose attaced to the filter side of the stock airfilter houseing, i was wondering should i mount a small peice of hose between the intake filter and MAS sensor and place the vacume hose between the MAS and air filter?

And one other question i recently ran into a person that had mounted an RX-7 MAS senser onto his mazda protege giving him way higher torque in the mid/high RPM range and since the probe is mazda MX6 could the same be done with a probe? or would that require more extensive mods to the ECU? and other sensors?

Thanks in advance
