Hyde goes 1.5 in the 60' (videos in side)

I entered the NHRA national event at Atco this weekend.

How about some videos?

Hyde 2-stepping and shooting flames:

This is an in-car video of my 11.85 @ 119 run against Keith Loforte:
http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/image...forte_1185.mpg
... no BPV noise going 3rd to 4th ~ nothing like a WOT shift.

This was my burnout in the 1st round of eliminations.
Hyde is getting squirrlier and squirrlier when doing burnouts ... I think I made a few people jumpy on this one
http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/image...73_burnout.mpg

1.5 in the 60' .... I ran 11.737@ 119 mph
Hyde's wheels do not come off the ground (I watched closely on the big TV), but notice the suspension stays unloaded for all of 1st gear. If we resolve our 2nd gear boost issues, we can keep that squat rolling down the track:

I like how you used the video's inside to lure people into the thread..

Well, can't watch the video (super slow dial up now) but congrats on the 1.5 60'.

Yeah, the Easy Street car goes 9s.

Thanks everyone ... the cars I am up against are so friggin fast. I am at least a year and an engine build away from being seriously competitive. Until then, I will keep showing up and taking my bruises.

Thanks chevytruck, weren't we just talking about 1.5s? ... I did not think it was possible for me.

Yeah, lol. That's pretty good too! I only had one 1.4 60' Sunday (1.49 something). The rest were all 1.5s. I dont know if you seen it, but I got a slip posted that has a 1.464 60'. That's as good as the car's ever done, and certainly the best I've ever done.

I would have loved to have had that pass at a different track. I'm almost positive it would have been a 1.38 or 1.39.

Anyways, great job on your 1.5 60'. What were the rest of your stats from that run?

Re: Hyde goes 1.5 in the 60' (videos in side)

60 = 1.574
330 = 4.845
1/8 = 7.562
1000= 9.768
1/4 = 11.737

We are having a problem with boost dropping off badly on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.

maybe look at anti lag or a heavier flywheel?

Re: Hyde goes 1.5 in the 60' (videos in side)

As of now, we are adjusting the gain on the boost controller and working with the actual tune.

I've looked at anti-lag since my EMS has it, but considering the wear-n-tear on the manifold and turbine, I rather use N20 to keep things spooled up if it comes down to it.

I am on the stock flywheel, so that is plenty heavy.

Thanks for the ideas though

i never understood what the "gain" parameter is on the boost controller.

Re: Hyde goes 1.5 in the 60' (videos in side)

Well, on the blitz DSBC it works like this:

Gain can be set from 0 to 100.

At a setting of 100, the wastegate stays completely closed until your target boost is reached. This maximixes spool up but increases the chance of over boosting as the system can not "anticipate" the 20 psi approaching.

At a lower level, like a setting of 20, the controller will start opening the wastegate as you approach 20 psi ... this keeps you from overboosting at the expense of spool up.

I have had mine set at 20 (the recommended starting point). On my old T3T4 turbo, I would start having 3-4 psi spikes if I upped much from a gain of 20.

This weekend, with the GT35R turbo, we went from a gain of 20 to 35 and had ZERO spiking ... so we upped it again to 47 and still no spiking. That being said, I will be turning up the gain some more

It is not recommended to play with the gain on an internal wastegate.
