Clunk Clunk
Howdy!. 2004 Malibu LT bad clunking in lower steering shaft. Whether in park or driving. Any Ideas? Thanks.

You can either replace the shaft, or disconnect the shaft from the bottom of the column, then use something like GM's "super lube", spray around the bottom of the upper section of the intermediate shaft, where it slides into the lower section. Push the upper section into the lower while spraying, this will pull the lube into the shaft. Extend and compress the shaft 5-10 times, then reconnect the shaft. It's a temporary fix, but cheaper than a new one.

Make sure to check with GM first; there may have been a recall on this.
