oil pressure gauge addition trouble

OK, here goes, I am trying to add a oil pressure gauge to my car because it does not have one, all it has, is what I call an idiot light. oh sorry it is on a 97 eclipse non turbo with the intake on the firewall side. I am wondering if it is possible to just completely leave the sending unit unhooked and just get an adapter for the new pressure tube and gauge. But however the hole in the block is about 3/4" and the new line is about 1/4" so does any one have any ideas?

Re: oil pressure gauge addition trouble

it is a mechanical gauge, but I think I might have it now, I just made a trip to ace hardware, they had enough stuff to make it work, I hope.
