1995 blazer spare tire
I have a 1995 blazer 4 door with the spare tire under the car. my problem is that one day i heard a rattle under my car. i thought that it was the spare tire. since i was only a mile away from home i thought i would check it when i got home. when i got there, i was missing my spare tire. a problem in my eye. i found the tire 1/2 mile away. the spare tire holder under my car snapped off. the wires holding the tire on. they all snapped. easy fix? or expensive dealer fix? or am i carrying my spare in teh back of the blazer? thanksin advance

Re: 1995 blazer spare tire
It was actually the whole deal. Granted it was used but all I did was grease it all up before installing and it works fine.

Re: 1995 blazer spare tire
I have a temporary donut on my 1997...anyone know if that wire and mounting assembly can handle the added weight of a full-size rim and 15" tire?

Re: 1995 blazer spare tire
As far as I knew it was made for the full size spare. That donut must have been put there by someone other than the factory.

Re: 1995 blazer spare tire
Really???
Huh, maybe mine is supposed to have a doughnut also. I guess its possible. So to SpectreSE the answer is: Yes, cause I have had a full size tire in mine for over 20k now. |

Can the '97 Blazer handle a full-size spare?
Reviving this thread to ask a question about the '97 Blazer (4 door, 2wd) ability to carry a full size spare on the underbody holder. Looks to me like the size won't be a problem but I don't know for sure about the weight.
Had a blowout last weekend & didn't like having to creep along the interstate on that donut... -Mike

Yes, I still have my doughnut spare under there, but wonder if the steel wire mounting assembly has only one version to accept the weight of doughnut vs. a fullsize rim and tire.
I can almost imagine hitting a good sized hole or bump, and the retention wire cable snapping off leaving my new aluminum wheel and full-size spare in the roadway... |

The spare tire mount should hold the weight of a full sized tire. Where else you gonna put the blown tire if you have a flat? My 95 Blazer has a full sized spare under it. It came with a full sized and It's been under my Blazer for the last 157k miles (thats the originals miles on the Blazer).

Well my 95 uses a full size spare from the factory, so it shouldn't be a problem...
