Re: 99 V6 balancer bolt
honda has a 'special service tool'. if you notice on your pulley that there is a hexagon shaped opening around the bolt. theres a tool that honda has that attaches to a 1/2" breaker bar. this allows you to hold it in place while you have another breaker bar w/ a 19mm socket twisting it off. i think this tool cost around 70-80 bucks. this would be the proper way of removing the bolt.
if you don't want to spend the money buying this tool...there's another trick in removing these bolts. it's a little dangerous though. i recommend getting another person to help you w/ this. first check which way the pulley spins. it should spin clockwise, if im correct. if it spins clockwise then this trick will work...if it spins counterclockwise DONT DO THIS. this trick is basically using the engines own torque to remove the bolt.
grab your breaker bar w/ the 19mm socket attached to it and wrap a towel or rag around the handle. put the socket around the bolt like your about to spin it off. now wedge the breaker up against a solid piece of the cars frame. have one guy watch to make sure the breaker bar and socket doesn't slip off...but at a distant where he won't be in harms way if it does slip off. what you would have to do is crank the engine quickly and then left off the key BEFORE it starts. the torque of the engine should spin the bolt off while the breaker bar is held in place by the frame.
like i said before the trick way is more dangerous and probably not recommended by many people. if you don't feel sure about doing it that way. there's always the proper way...just have to go purchase the tool. good luck.
