Headlight Question
Hey I'm going to replace my stock bulbs with Xenon/HID bulbs. I just wanted to get some opininons on what type of bulb I should use on my 99 Eclipse. I want a blue look more than just a pure white. I'm trying to go for about the amount of blue that's in the bulbs used in most Nissans (350, Maxima). Also, how easy is it to burn out the wires, etc with replacement bulbs?
Do you think that these will do any harm? Any knowledge will be appreciated ***Edit: Sorry!! I forgot about the subforums. Can someone move this? Please don't delete! I'm a newbie. |

Re: Headlight Question
Are those even HIDs? They look like regular bulbs to me...

Re: Headlight Question
those are just regular bulbs with blue paint on them. They will make a goofy looking blue glow (that makes them illegal) and will actually emit less light than your stock bulbs.

Re: Headlight Question
Not to sure which blubs are the best, but I would definetly be interested in some xenon bulbs if they make them for 1(b)g's.

Just make sure you get the same wattage bulbs as stock, or you will have the chance to melt your wiring. I think the 9006 are 55w and 9005 are 65w. I just went on Ebay to find my bulbs. DO NOT DO THIS. My low beam bulbs went out about 2 weeks ago, the second 4 days after the first, which was like 2 months after I bought them. Go with something that will last. Wal-mart has the pair of bulbs, I forget the brand but they are well known for quality and lasting awhile, that they sell for like $40 a pair. PIAA maybe? Something like that. Don't cheap out, and make sure you wear gloves when installing.

Re: Headlight Question
the nissan's, porsche's, bmw's, and other exotic cars use H.I.D lights. they aren't regular bulbs, you have to buy a specific kit.

there have been several threads about this, do a search on it. If you want the most light you can get on the road, the try something like Silverstars or PIAA super plasmas. If you are simply looking for the blue look, then any of the cheap one will do. If you want to run real HID, then you need to get the whole setup, inlucde bulb, balasts and everything. Also, our stock headlight isn't designed for HIDs, so it will blind on coming traffic, so you either have to get new headlights or do a HID retrofit. A good set of HIDs plus retrofitting will set you back atleast $400.

Re: Headlight Question
Hey I just looked at the box and under the "Xenon Plasma Blue" in Japanese it says its "Lazer White Bulbs", so I'm not sure if its the blue'ish color your looking for with the lights on.

Re: Headlight Question
Thanks for all help. Does anyone have PIAA or Silverstar? What about the GE ones? I'm kinda apprehensive about those.

Re: Headlight Question
I had Nokya wuper whites on my car for a while (L beams). Only $25, good for about a year.
High Intesity Discharge are completely separate kits, you need to do a bunch of wiring and stuff done, plus their bulbs are special, not regualr off the shelf kind., You probably meant HID "look" or HID "type"... get super white if you can, they look cleaner, plus the cops wont harrass ya...my 2c. |
