Question Steering Rack

My daughter has a '94 Quest GXE minivan that is in need of a new steering rack. Is the rack for a '94 Mercury Villager identical to the rack for a Quest? I found a shop online that has remanufactured steering racks for domestic cars at $120 (plus a $100 core), and racks for foreign cars at $220 (plus a $100 core). I'll buy the Villager unit if it will fit in the Quest. Both units have the same part number on their site (steeringrack.com).

I've replaced steering racks before (recently in a '85 VW Cabriolet) but if anyone has any pointers or suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks!

Re: Steering Rack

Well, I purchased the "Mercury Villager" steering rack and installed it this past weekend. The unit was an exact match, so it saved me $100 over the part for the Nissa Quest. The unit was not all that difficult to remove/replace. I did a steering rack on an '85 VW Cabriolet a year ago that was a royal pain in the arse. I did cop out and have the garage that was doing the front end alignment also flush the steering system. The hoses were a pain to get at an now they can deal with disposal of the old fluid.
