I have a bad rear bearing in my 99 Intrigue. I have purchased a new rear hub assembly from Autozone, but I have a couple of questions about installation.
I have removed the caliper, the 4 hub to knuclkle bolts, the antilock connector and the 2 small screws that mount from the bottom back and hold the emergency brake assembly in place. The hub won't budge. Question 1. Have I missed anything that may still be holding the hub in place. Question 2. If not, how do you get it to seperate. My guess is I will need a flange puller and slide hammer combo. Another possiblilty is several bolts about an inch and half longer than the hub mounting bolts. I would screw them in and then back them out against the hub using a wrench. If someone has knows the best way to procede, I could use the advise as my car is up on jack stands at the moment. |

Re: Intrigue Rear Hub replacment
Hi
I have the '99 factory manual. Seems you have hit all the main items. The only items you did not mention were:Remove parking brake lever bracket, two fasteners from the back side, and; remove the parking brake actuator. I have not done the job, so I can only tell you what it says here. From the diagrams I see no reason it would be stuck. The four Hub/Knuckle bolts appear to be it. Good luck |

I replaced the front hub on my 94' Olds Niney-Eight and I ran into the same problem as you. The problem with mine was that hub assembly was simply rusted/frozen into place. All I needed to do was take a bigger hammer to pound it off.

Thanks for the replies. I had removed the emergency bracket and 2 screws. I borrowed a slide hammer and bracked from Autozone and with a couple of good wacks is came right off. There was corrosion on the knuckle which took a lot of wire brushing so I could mount the new one.
