Chilton vs Haynes Manuals
I was trying to locate a local copy of a repair manual but none of the stores carry anything on Windstars. However Amazon has one Chilton and two Haynes manuals... I have a 98 3.8L
So which one is the most detailed with pictures for the novice? Chilton 95-98 ISBN: 0801989698 Haynes 95-01 blue cover ISBN: 1563923882 Haynes 95-98 red cover ISBN: 1563923009 |

Re: Chilton vs Haynes Manuals
I've owned several Chilton and Haynes manuals over the years and both have their advantages. I personally prefer the Chilton manual because they tend to get into more detail, but if you're an amateur and not planning anything too serious, you may want to go with the Haynes which has more pictures. I know I wish I had one for my '89 Corsica years ago when I couldn't find the dummy distributor cap...a picture would have really helped. One warning, though, Haynes bases their books on a complete tear-down and rebuild...but only on one model. Often times the picture shown will not match what you have. Good luck!

Re: Chilton vs Haynes Manuals
Newer is always better (for me), (I say) go for the blue Haynes.
