1/12 Tamiya Porsche 935 body help needed

Hello everyone, first post!!!!!! Well Im building my third try at a Tamiya 1/12 935 and I have a SMS kit for it too!!!! The build is going well but Im still on the first two pages. The SMS details are superb but time consuming. I might post picks but I fear my results are not up to your guys standards!!!

Now for my question, Im not very skilled at applying decals and was wondering if I could pay one of you to finish the body for me. Any takers? I really want this body to be up to the quality that I have seen on this site. Thanks.

Welcome, thats a very expensive kit to be practising with. I highly suggest buying a few smaller 1:24 cars (suggest Tamiyas 935 & moby Dick kits & they would look good along side the big boy) & just practise doing their decals. I Still find the decals one of the most dauting tasks, & I'm a signwriter!!! Get the supplies you need, Micro Sol & Set help, a few brushes & cotton tips, even watch a few videos on Youtube of how to do it, youll be a pro in no time. & lets see some pics, this isnt just a forum for advanced modelers.

Well then you haven't built enough kits. Get some 1/24 porsche kits with decals and practice on the 1/24 before tackling the 1/12.

I find decaling to be the easiest part of the build

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Porsche 935 body help needed

I totally agree with the idea of practising on cheaper 1/24 Martini Porsches. They have the same decaldesign. To work with decals, do you have the right tools???? When I'm decalling I use Micro Set and Micro Sol. Micro Set for good adhesive and Micro Sol to soften the decal for rounding difficult curves. When applying decals on difficult shapes the use of a hairdryer is a must. This softens the decal further after using Micro Sol. To carefully press the decal into place, use cottonsticks dipped in water and carefully roll the decal in place. DON'T do this right after you used Micro Sol and the hairdryer. Wait a couple of minutes. You can repeat the process until you are satisfied. Practise, and you will see you get better.

...do you really want to show-off your very expensive creation and as people marvel at the body work you cut them off with "...uhh, by the way, the body work is not mine, I paid someone to do that for me." I don't think too many on this board could show off a model not built by themselves 100%.
