Acura 98 TL 2.5 PROBLEMS

The engine coded for a misfire in cylinder number 1. The vehicle is currently in the shop for diagnostics, however, the shop is unable to duplicate the problem. The misfire has been occuring for at least a year and each time the vehicle is brought to the shop nothing is resolved. The Mass Airflow Sensor was replaced a few months ago because that was what coded originally. The vehicle still has the same problems. I am wondering if the misfire could have coded for the ECM. The vehicle will stall and have poor acceleration intermittantly upon different circumstances, none of which are consistent. Is there any definate way to tell what is causing the misfire besides the code? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.
