what headunit is better, kenwood or blaupunkt

well im stuck between the KDC-205 and the blaupunkt CD34
Kenwood KDC-205
Blaupunkt indianapolis CD34

im deciding between these two headunits (AND ONLY THESE TWO!!) headunits, both will be running stock GM 3.5" and 6"x9" speakers (1986) and maybe later JBL speakers.

Obviously kenwood. I like pioneer myself though, they have nice layouts.

Re: what headunit is better, kenwood or blaupunkt

...kenwood... sigh... I'm just curious, why just those two? They don't even have MP3 capability. For those prices, I'd expect that. And remember, the output wattage they list is the max... rms is gonna be 20 - 25 watts.

A plug for MP3s... I can fit 2 audio books on one CD. ... For long trips and when I've time to waste away from my computer. If you don't get a MP3 capable deck, at least get one with an aux in... both those decks are pretty much featureless.

yeah i regret not getting an mp3 capable headunit now, they tend to have better features anyway. the kenwood does have the higher rms wattage of the two.

Re: what headunit is better, kenwood or blaupunkt

Why are you limiting yourself to only these two? They free or somthing? If not definatly look into other brands with more features. If I ever go aftermarket for the headunit I'm gonna get one of these

Re: what headunit is better, kenwood or blaupunkt

no just a small town and a budget. im just not wanting to throw money into this car. im probly going to crash it from being immature and stupid (you think you wont but you always do) im a 16 year old male, im going to speed and probly crash it a few times. its a fact of life.

i am to the point where im already spending more money on the audio then then i did on this car when i got it.

plus this car is bound to be broken into, so i would rather get a cheaper headunit then an expensive one.

Speaker type Display

For the OEM speaker "SP-O"
For 6 & 6x9 in. speaker "SP-6"
For 5 & 4 in. speaker "SP-5"

well my stock rear speakers are 6x9" so would i use the SP-O or SP-6?

Re: what headunit is better, kenwood or blaupunkt

oh my god!
this is acually in the troubleshooting section of the manual for the KDC-205

PROBLEM: NO PANEL IS DISPLAYED. The faceplate of the slave unit being connected to this unit has been removed.

PROBLEM SOLUTION:
Replace it.

how stupid does kenwood think their customers are?

Re: what headunit is better, kenwood or blaupunkt

wow, you're really pessimistic... don't decks and speakers usually survive accidents? And if you hide all your speakers and take your faceplate with you, you're much less likely to get broken into. I've got only about 500 bucks into my system, but I have only my tweeters and my deck visible. My sub is barely powerful enough to be heard outside, unless it's so loud it's uncomfertable to me inside.

Give us a budget! We'll find some good stuff for you

Re: what headunit is better, kenwood or blaupunkt

I fried my panasonic in my old car when i wrecked it broke the cd loading plate or some shit wanted $60 to fix it. But out of those 2 get the kenwood i have never liked anything that blaupunkt has sold. Like diceman said they are featureless you could go to walmart and get a mp3 cd player not saying its going to be good but you can still get one. Check ebay you can find headunits for great prices got a panasonic cq-dfx983u for 250 crutchfield and circuit city wanted 350 for it, had 3 sets of preamp outputs all 5volts, aux in and cd changer, sirius ready and it had wma/mp3. Look around you can find better shit than that but if you decided on one of thoses 2 go for the kenwood.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.
