350 swap... cowl induction please. (pics)

Okay... so I have the engine in now and I realize that my estimates for the hood clearance was off by quite a bit. I never actually sat down and calculated it, I just though "hmm.... it should be okay." Now I need a cowl induction hood.

If you know of one please let me know. I want nothing bigger than a 2.25" inch cowl and of course the lowest price possible... I am now out of money for this project. (luckily, just about everything is all ready paid for). I am willing to trade an Iroc hood (with louvers) or a 6 cylinder transmission (recently rebuilt).

Nice strip job on the car.
The Harwood cowl hoods are everywhere, just google it. They will run $400-$600 though. And 3" is about as low as they go.

the cheapest cowl hood you'll find will be the lift-off type. Ebay would be a good place to search also.

here's a pic of the hood i'm getting, it has a 2" cowl and a place to mount the iroc louvers.

Kevin i'm really impressed how everything is coming along..

also if you want the super cheap rout you can ...Brace yourself..

Cut into your current hood and weld on a custom ram-air or cowel for your carb whichever way you put it on. That will be cheapest if you have access to the stuff.

Re: 350 swap... cowl induction please. (pics)

yea... i thought about cutting and welding a hood scoop into it, but the problem is that I don't have the basic hood, I have the IROC hood with the louvers and that wouldn't look good. I think I have it figured out thou.... I'm still using the original engine mount holder thing (the part that attaches to the engine) from the 1979 van.... if I get the 82-92 mounts those will lower the engine into the bay about 2 inches (i hope) because they are shorter (supposedly)....they'll cost me $60 bucks, so I'll get those next week, hopefully. but i'll get the cowl induc. hood anyway this summer cause I want it. either that or the newer SS hood style for the 3rd gen.

Thanks for all the compliments... I'm kinda proud of myself also... cause I'm just a poor boy from the hood...hard work pays.

Yea... those are 4th gen ZR1 wheels.

Here how much I have spent (approximately) over 5 monts. http://bengal.missouri.edu/~klm217/c...e/Expenses.txt

I agree try with ebay, but heres my list anyway
www.hawksthirdgenparts.com
www.fbodymotorsports.com
www.jegs.com

These all have hoods, prices depend on fiberglass or steel
I reccomend steel, it looks and holds up better after paint.
By the way nice wheels let me guess, 17by9.5 in front and 17by11 in back?

Hey bag, would you like me to put one of the pics of your car in your sig, so you don't have to keep adding it to your posts?
