well, i have some good news and some bad news...
The good news is that the car is almost all done the bad news is that i screwed the paintjob on it so its sitting in Dot3 awaiting to be repainted. What happened is that i was doing the window trim, and totally made it sloppy, tried to tidy it up, made it even sloppier. SO what im thinking about doing is when all the paint is off, i will spray black along the windows. The tape over it using tamiya model tape. Primer the body, then paint it. The when all the paint is dried i will take the tape off hopefully revealing beutiful window frames. If this is a bad idea please stop me now before i do it. But ehre are some pics of the car after i did the window frames the first time. After these pictures is when i screwed it up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Civic Hatchback
did you paint the trim with enamel or acrylic? i always do my trim after i clear, and i do it with acrylic paint. if i mess up too bad, i use kit scratch out to pull the paint off. it is what i use when i polish my bodies anyhow. as far as taping the window trim. if you let the paint cure before you remove it, which you will have to do it you do it before you prime. then you will HAVE to score the edges of the tape so it lifts off cleanly. otherwise it will crack the paint around the window trim as you pull the tape up

Re: Civic Hatchback
acrylic is easier IMHO when doing detail work such as this. it is easier to take care of when you make a mistake.

Re: Civic Hatchback

Re: Civic Hatchback
IMHO in my humble opinion. i usually do it after clear coat, since the trim usually has a flat or semi gloss finish to it on real cars. so i apply mine after clear.

Re: Civic Hatchback
also if you make a mistake, use thinner (tiny bit)or rubbing compound on a ear swab to wipe the mistake away, acrylics are alot easier to clean up. Nice progress so far.
