WTF? the Smart is probably one of the best modern cars, while it's expensive for what it is, it's the most ideal answer to Urban parking troubles there is.

Now the genuinely bad cars

Gargantuan SUV's which are useless off-road (H2, Navigator, Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban, Expodition, Excursion, M Class)

Parking, yes and otherwise? Nothing absolutely NOTHING! Sorry but the SMART is the worst thing on 4 wheels was ever made!

Parking, navigating crowded streets, gas milage, simple ease of driving, it's the ideal city car, certainly will never set the world on fire as far as performance goes and the transmission is awful.


But at the end of the day it's a practical, frugal and well engineered answer to so many of todays problems, certainly makes more sense than all those huge American/Japanese SUV's.

- extremely bad chassis ( "TopGear" says - worst Handling of the Year! )

- bad transmission

- many death engines with low mileage

- very bad Road performances

- bad "ESP"-System

- high Price

- Space for 2 persons

- little, little, little trunk

- critical handling in the winter / snow / ice

We have many Smart tuner in Germany and the result? BAD, BAD, BAD and VERY BAD!
A new special SMART ( 80hp, lower, better Tires, modified transmission and so on ) was on a handling course 0.7sec. faster then a 25 Years old standard Trabant ( 26hp, 2 Stoke Engine, 4 Speed Transmission, super narrow Tire, 4 Drumbrakes and so on )! Embarrassing!
The high Price Tuning with 3 Times more Power, with "ESP" and ABS, big Tires and Disk Brakes, 3 Times Younger, RWD SMART "loses" against THIS car? Unbelievably!!!

It's slow, it handles badly and it's build quality is highly suspect!

And to top it all it's actually a Daewoo! I HATE badge-engineering! Especially when it looks a bad as this!

I like the Smart cars. If I lived in the city and they were sold here (I don't know if they are or not) I would buy one.

$32,500 for one of those???? You can buy a Honda Civic for like $12-14000 for the base model, will get close to 50 mpg, and use what you saved to buy gas. I would not pay more than like $5000 for one of those cars.

It's actually a very safe car, when you collide it with a standard European car, uses the same design philosophies as the Mercedes A Class, also acheived a 3-star Euro-NCAP rating.

FACT: You're many times more likely to die in a Chrysler Voyager than a Smart, should you hit the same object at an offset angle at cruising speed.








I know what I'd rather be in, the "Smart" choice.

I don't think the Aveo looks bad especially for a Daewoo. I don't like the Nissan Xterra. They look ugly imo, poor gas mileage, underpowered. My brother had a front-wheel drive '02 and got stuck in the car wash for god sake.

The Crown Vic...its still around, they won't let it die, its old, poor quality, weak V8, bland styled 5 years ago and really needs to just stop being made...as police and civilian cars
