annoying humming sound!!

there is an annoying humming/buzzing sound in the interior of my car and i cant seem to figure out what it is or where its coming from. The humming is constant, whether the car is on or off.......and its driving me crazyyyyy. I told the dealer about it, and he had no idea what it was.

The sound you're probably hearing is a tiny fan located in the dash. It pulls air in through a small opening in the dash for the cabin air temp/humidity sensors that control the heating/air conditioning system. Mine sounds like a faint AC humming noise. This fan runs all the time the car is on, and, about 15 - 20 minutes after the car is turned off. Its normal on an X-Type. I'm really surprised that your dealer didn't know this, since all X-Types do it. I have heard of instances where the fan had to be replaced because they were exceptionally noisy.

Hope this helps:
