I have read other sources that state various tires that will fit the factory 16x6.5 rims, but always felt unsure about proposed sizes. Can somebody give me some useful info about going to a taller/wider tire for this rim?

Re: Scrawny rubber on a 2006, 2500HD 4x4.....
you will not get any fat rubber on a 6.5" rim. check out your local tire shop that sells a lot of after market wheels. 1\2 ton 4 wheelers will take either a 315-70-16 or 285-75-16 but a 2500hd sets higher.
check them out. i did not say buy, just hear the sales pitch. |

Thanks for the 411, will post later what I went with. Hopefully it will help someone with the same question somewhere down the road.
