You can't tell the difference? Is it amber or red? Which side is it coming from? Passenger side, probably tranny fluid. Driver side probably power steering.

trace the cause directly above where the spots are on the ground.

We can't see it for you bro. You have to get under there to find it.

It is right in the middle under the hood. I have not had time to check for where it is coming from, honestly only saw it happen once and not have seen it since. Just was very odd to see it happen. I usually park on dirt and grass and never noticed but happen to let my truck sit in my cousins driveway for a few minutes and notice a small puddle. I will let you guys know what I see as soon as I can.

Re: Tranny fluid leak, possible power steering?

Could be the transfer case overflowing due to a bad tranny transfer case seal causing the transfer case to overflow.

Take the fill plug out of the transfer case and see if any fluis pours out which SHOULDN'T happen.

Just do it while the truck is level.

Re: Tranny fluid leak, possible power steering?

Red should be tranny fluid, but some people will use tranny fluid in the power steering pump when needed.

First question is.....are you sure the puddle is from your truck? Sounds like a dumb question, but I have parked over puddles before and thought they were mine until I checked it out.

If it is yours, I would start with the tranny lines. Check them for leaks. Keep in mind that they may leak in other places and then the fluid will run down the line to the point where it falls.

Oh yea definitely my puddle. The weird thing is that if it is leaking, only does it when the engine is off, and for some reason the level is still right to the mark. I understand that when the fluid is in motion it is less likely to leak, but just seems odd to me. The same day which was probably dumb since I already saw the tranny fluid on the ground I towed a two place snowmobile trailer with two sleds on it and then backed the trailer up a pretty good incline and really have to get on the gass and could smell something burning. I had the tranny flushed about 20K ago so I think maybe it is due again.
