Power Quarter Window connector PICTURE

Hi All,

I am trying to "upgrade" my van to put in the power motors that will open the rear quarter windows -- Instead of the "manual" window latches.

My manual shows that the plastic connecting pieces (between the motor & window) should have a pin that goes through it to connect it to the window. I know that sounds strange, so I put a diagram here.

Anyway, the only motors that I have found (on eBay - after MONTHS of looking) have small plastic "balls" that appear to fit another type of connector.

So what I am looking for is an ACTUAL PICTURE of the motors AND especially the pieces that connect it to the window.

If someone could take a few pictures and put them here, I would really appreciate it. If you can get the pictures but can't get them into the forum, just PM me and we will see what we can do.

Thanks in advance,

More Pictures

Hi again,

I have added some pictures of the power window pieces to the page listed above.

If you have power rear vent windows, please take a look at them and let me know what kind of connectors you have.

Thanks,

Dealer

I was hoping to get some input from the folks here first. Kind of a "group project" so to speak. It could even inspire others to do the same thing, or at least be able to fix their van if needed. Look for more pictures and details soon.

I was planning on visiting a dealer as a "last option."

Take Care,

I think I saw it

Hey folks -- I think I have seen the part that I need. But here's the thing -- I saw it on a different brand of van.

While walking around the parking lot during lunch I was looking at the connection hardware in every van I saw to see how they connect the windows to the power motors.

When I took a look at a Ford Windstar, I saw a small plastic piece that connects to the window with a section that contains a "socket" that fits over the "ball" I refered to in an earlier message. There is a "C-Spring" (not sure if that is the right name) that keeps the ball in the socket.

This setup is very similar to the way the charged "lifts" connect to the rear door of my Jeep Cherokee. I was even thinking about "engineering" something from the old lift connectors to work on the van.

Once I find (or engineer) the pieces to complete this project, I will finish the story and post it on my site.

Take Care,

Thanks for the kind words & encouragement. I like to help out whenever I can.

Just an update:
I have finally aquired all the parts needed (I think) and have plans to do the job this weekend.

I was even thinking of putting the whole project on video and making that available.

Take Care,

Job Completed

UPDATE:

The job was completed yesterday - Power Rear Quarter Window Motors and Connecting Hardware have been installed and all is functional. There were a couple of problems during the job, but nothing really big.

I will write up the project and put it on my website soon. Maybe even a short video of the highlights.

Take Care,

Take Care,
Greg, you should send your resume to Haynes !

If only the Haynes manuals were illustrated, the way you did with the mods you posted here(overhead console/quarter windows), most people would be capable of doing the repairs on their cars all by themselves.

Yves.
