Disconnect the battery....blah blah blah safety stuff
Remove dash bezel: Tilt steering wheel all the way down Place shifter in 1st blah blah engine off of course Remove the dash trim bezel starting at the upper right corner and start to pull on it. Gently. Take your time Tilt the top portion towards you and pull the bezel up and out. Be careful of the 4way flasher button. Put shifter back in park Remove radio by removing the 3 screws. Careful as this is all that holds the radio in place Remove the drivers and passengers side A-pillar trim - only one clip at the top, WATCH out for the SHORT wires on the small speakers on this piece Open the doors and remove fuse box trim from both sides of the dash, remove the 2 screws on each side Using a flat screwdriver pull out both A/C vents on the passengers side of the dash - CAREFUL Remove the passenger assist handle by reaching inside the A/C vent holes and press the release tabs on both sides of the handle, pull the handle away from the dash to remove Remove top dash trim by removing 2 screws from each side of the dash 2 screws from the passenger A/C vent location Remove the remaining screws from the dash trim Release the clips from each side of the dash by pulling out (and up)slightly Pull out on the dash trim above the passengers airbag (there are 3 clips in this location that must be released before the trim pad can be removed Lift up on the dash trim to disconnect the ambient light sensor (little dome located at the center on top of the dash cover. BE VERY CAREFUL YOU CAN TURN IT VERY GENTLY A QUARTER OF A TURN AND IT WILL POP OUT or you can take a chance and try to disconnect it (if you go this route a second set of hands will help so they can hold it up and you can get in there to unhook the fine wires). You will see how the GPS antenna hooks up on the right side using the cross brace for the dash. HTH Good luck |

Re: Help, how to remov dash bord for install navi
Hi,
are you replacing a non-nav radio with a nav radio? If yes, there are a lot of things to consider and a lot of threads covering this. GPS receiver is one that comes to mind, also programming the computer to accept the nav unit. Take care, Eggert |

Re: Help, how to remov dash bord for install navi
IF you bought a new one in the box (there are some ebay vendors that sell them) it will be a plug and play pure and simple. If you purchased a take out you will need to have the theft lock disabled so it will be recognized by your vehicle.
You will also need the separate GPS antenna. The XM and OnStar antennas have nothing to do with the NAV radio. And lastly you will need the DVD to make it work. I installed one in my 05 YXL Denali and I love it! Good luck |
