Custom bumper almost done...

Ok, after being on the back burner for a bit my project (one of them) is almost complete. All I need to finish it is:

1-Recover from the Bondo and Primer fumes.
2-Pickup some GM 519F colour and shoot on a couple coats to match the body.
3-Install my kickass 100watt/ea driving lights in those nice big pockets (the lights are 6" in diameter) and wire them up.

One thing I've learned so far is that once I sell my house next month I'm am deffinately getting a garage 'cause doing anything on a car when there's snow outside and it's -20deg on average really sucks!!!!!!!! That's why this project got back burnered!

Here ya go....

awesome mark. Yeh I can imagine it must be a huge pain in the ass working on that outside. I have always been blessed with a 3 car garage with great flourescent lighting - and I have learned to truely appreciate it after seeing what other people have to work through. Keep up the good work.

Re: Custom bumper almost done...

Thanks Ridenour, yes you are lucky to be blessed with such a great setup, grrrrrrrr. LOL. Once I sell my house, I'll make sure the next one has a garage....

Hey Driver, so far that is the only piece on the car, actually, in the world. I custom built it. It is hand laid fibreglass. There may be more to come, but not until I setup a decent little shop to work in. Plus my goal is to have a sleeper, or as close to one as possible. Our club's cars highlight vehicles include a fully done out '97 GA GT with full body kit, nitrous, air ride....I didn't want to go that route with mine. So we decided on just making an all out fast car that'll catch you off guard when you least expect it. A turbo may in the works, but I kinda want to make a kickass N/A engine instead. As far as the that piece is concerned, here are some pics of it while I was building it.

I definitely wouldn't want to be driving that when it's finished. I'd have it cracked in no time, probably hitting a curb or something stupid.
Good job though.

Re: Custom bumper almost done...

Thanks guys. I too find it kinda has a bit of "rally" persuasion, especially once I install the two lights in those pockets. As far ripping it off the car driving, that's what my wife is for I guess, she's done it once all ready....And to top it off, my lowering kit and new struts are coming in next week. I have been waiting over 2 weeks already for them.

^ ^ Oh crap jeez better be careful. It'd be a shame if that got really messed up just by a damn curb or something. I agree with the rally-look, it does kind of show some inspiration of the sort. That will be so badass flying down dark roads at night with those two massive lights. Keep it comin Mark!

Re: Custom bumper almost done...

looks nice are you going to use the open space in the middle for anything such as ram air or what not.
it kind of has a hint of some of the bonevilles that i have seen. how hard was laying the fiberglass?

Re: Custom bumper almost done...

Actually, it does have ram air, you just can't see it in the pics. Because of the contours and the fact that I haven't laid fibreglass in almost five years, it was a pain in the a**. I'm starting to remember little tricks and such again so it got a little easier as the project progressed. Here is a pic of the damaged ram air (thanks to my wife, I still love her though) which has since been repaired.
