Pikachu???

So what ever happened with Pika's CV joint issue? Did he blow the joint out or bust the half shaft? What kind of cost was involved in replacing it?

Not really... you never know though. It would be nice to know how much a replacement costs just in case. I don't think it matters what lift you go with as the CV joints aren't a strong point and prone to breakage. I have been looking around and haven't found anyone (Nissan) who has messed up a half-shaft or CV with a lift.... except Pika.

I haven't talked with him recently, but last I heard it cost $450 for a new complete half-shaft, and then he was going to have the busted one rebuilt to keep as a spare.

Ouch! Was that with labor?! I hope so... Holy shit. I hope we can get remanufactured parts for the X soon. You'd think after 2 years you could get brake pads at Autozone for the thing.... sheesh. I checked and noone carries the axles either.

I hope your wrong That is absolutely ridiculous. Well... perhaps honda CV half-shafts are less money because you have to replace the damn things after every 80,000 miles Still sounds pretty assanine to me, especially since the dang things are probably the same specs as the frontier shafts.

I had a Nissan tech come by my shop yesterday and he has the 3+3 lift and 33's on his Frontier and he too has busted tie rods..he told me the reason they bend on these trucks is the center link uses a plastic bushing and as it wears which can happen quickly when taking the truck off road it places stress at different angles on the steering linkages and the weakest part is the center adjsuter of the tie rod. We discussed a few options we are looking into to help prevent this but until then he suggested all of us check those bushings and if there is slop buy them from your local dealer and replace them ASAP...can't hurt to carry a few around as well.

Without going out to the truck and looking (in class).. are the plastic bushings easily replaced without having to tear a bunch of stuff apart?

replace the bushings?

or the tie rods. Also, if anyone can get the part # I'd be interested. Think I will be checking this before the Canada trip.
