Problem.

i have a amp that has 4 channels and im hooking it up to 2 6x9s and 2 door speakers. the problem is that i want to hook a sub up to my system but that would make 5 speakers on a 4 channel amp. do i need to buy a sub amp and do what ?

BTW, i need a sub that responds well when i listen to rock and metal stuff.

What is the amp? It is a possiblity you could use it one everything.

its a profile HA1040 1000watt X 4channel.

wire the speakrs on the left to a left channel at 2 ohms (both front and rear) and both right speakers to the right channel. connect the + and + - and -. bridge the other 2 channels for a subwoofer @ 4 ohms. I wouls suggest an atlas 15 from www.ascendantaudio.com

haha yeah paint is awesome. if i run a wire to the 2 right speakers and 2 left speakers, will i lose power to the speakers because im powering 2 speakers with one channel.

No, because your cutting the impedance in half (2ohms), so you will double the ouput of the amp.

ah cool. so all i gotta do it split the wire comming from the channel and connect it to the speaker? (with the correct + and - of course)

just plug both +'s in the + of the amp and both -'s in the - of the amp.

so when i bridge the sub, i'll have a leftover - on the 3rd channel and a + on the 4th channel. could i use those left over - and + for like another sub possibly?

No..... those two cannot be used because your bridging the two channels..... meaning one channel is the + and the other one the - so the other two are not used.

so its like combining those 2 channels and my bridged sub will have 2X the power of the other nonbridged speakers?
