Fuel Pump in 1999 Jimmy

I'm hearing a norse from the fuel tank. It's kind of like a whining noise and I believe it's the fuel pump. Does anybody know if that indicates that the pump needs to be replaced soon? Thanks!

They all make noise, noise is okay, when they stop making noise.....then there's a problem.
