Vertical Doors Inc Vs. "Immitators"
I've been doing some research and so far it "seems" as if the Lambo Doors from Vertical doors inc. are supposed to be the best out there (its also a bolt on kit. Their site says not to be fooled by cheap immitators out there, the door will fall off, shocks will fail, etc etc.. is this just a sales gimic or are they fo real? anyone have good or bad experiences with them or other companies....???
anyone heard of TENRAI? they say to stay away from lambo doors made in japan/ china, are they serious about the lack of quality? |

Re: Vertical Doors Inc Vs. "Immitators"
I've read some threads of people buying cheap ones and them not being able to even lift the doors up. You get what you pay for.

First off, Vertical Doors Inc IS an imitator. They imitated Decahs design. Decah was the originator of the bolt on VDC. VDC, Inc...and all the others ripp-ed off decahs design. In fact, early VDC, Inc kits WERE decah kits...literally. Before they ripped off the design and started producing it themselves they were an offical online retailer of Decah, under the company name bodykits.org...(which is owned by the same guy that owns VDC, Inc) which allowed them access to the product. They started selling Decah Kits under there own company name, VDC, Inc...not as Decah Kits. Decah then stripped them of the right to be a retailer and they started producing there own after they ran out of Decah Kits, etc. Still...your doors shouldn't fall off with VDC, inc..but their claims that they are the first VDC, the only true bolt on, yadda yadda are not accurate...and they've knowly lied to me on the phone several times when they first came out. In fact, there original ads used Decah cars, a green civic w/ an Califonria style front end that was owned by Austin S. of Jacksonville and Steve K's baby blue coupe and Dan Callhoun's Kandy Blue all 3 were Decah sponsered cars and ww.decah.net was visable in the windows in the VDC, Inc ad.
I ca;;ed them up and asked them about it, and they claimed that I was wrong, I kept telling them the ad was in my hand...and they kept making up BS about hwo those were VDC cars...despite the fact www.decah.net was visable in the window. The next month the ad was changed...but the Green civic and Dan C's hatch were STILL in the ad, so I called back up. Again, they lied...and wanted to know if I was Decah. Heck no I wasn't decah I told them, but I'm pissed as a consumer they are knowly ripping off sponsered cars and putting them in there ads...finally after like 15 minutes I hung up, and they changed there ad a 3rd time, to what it is now. There's much more to the story and more background but I'll leave it at that. If you want my 2 cents, I won't mess with a company like that. VDC, Inc is owned by the same guy who owns bodykits.org, a company that makes a LIVING ripping off other companies body kit designs..consider that. Decah designed and released their VDC conversion a good year+ before VDC, Inc came around. VDC, Inc, Number One, Matrix Racing, and many other companies ripped off the Decah design. Of all those Decah iminations, VDC, Inc is the best of them. But make no mistake and don't be fooled....VDC Inc ripped off Decahs design...and thats the plain and simple fact. The only 2 companies that sell Lamo door conversions that are not Ripped off-bootlegge Decah designed are Autoloc and GT Factory. I don't care for autoloc's. If you want my 2 cents get Decah or GT Factory. Decah will bolt on, and they use extreemly strong shocks. It is a well built kit with very strong shocks, espeically compared tpo the bootleggers and imitators. GT Factory is not a bolt on, you'll need to drill the bolt hole pattern or weld them on...but they do open to a true 90 degree angle...unlike the others.

Re: Vertical Doors Inc Vs.
thanks for the post bro, you seem a bit personally offended by wut they did. out of curiousity, were you affiliated with DECAH? thanx for posting the site, cause i couldn't find them. other than the shaddyness towards other companies, would you say that VDC has a quality product?
in the end, i just want to have spent my money on something good. so far, i am able to get the VDC Inc kit for my 98 civic at 1200 and i heard that i'm getting a good price from them. i looked up the kit on DECAHs site and they are askin like 980. now its basically about QUALITY!!! ANY MORE ADVICE HELPS ME ALOT. ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH EITHER COMPANIES PRODUCT? which company would ya'll recommend and why? thanks a million. "price is not a problem when it comes to quality" |

Quote:
Why did this matter to me? For the simple fact that a) it was wrong of them to use another companies’ cars and claim them as their own, It is morally wrong and dishonest. Also, secondly, if I one day was sponsored and they did this with pictures of MY car, it would make it harder to procure future sponsorships. I was very offended. They (VDC, Inc.) out-right lied to me and told me lies about the cars in the ad. I new dang well what was going on, they just thought I was a fool. I did all that research because I HATE being lied to and HATE shady companies. Something was wrong about those cars being in the ad, and I knew it. I first called VDC, Inc to see if they were a BRANCH of Decah; because of the Decah cars in the ad (with wwwdecah.net was visible clearly in the windshield), and the name, Vertical Door Conversion, Inc. The name was misleading since Decah called their bolt-on Lambo system the "vertical door conversion" or VDC right from the release date years ago. Upon being told they were NOT affiliated with Decah and were a separate company, I wanted to know WHY they were using cars that were NOT theirs. I wanted to know why they were using Decah sponsored cars, car’s where Decah’s web address was till visible in the windshield, in their own ad. Then they tried to tell me I was wrong and wwwdecah.net was not in the windshield and these were not Decah cars. I've been into this game for a LONG time, well over 5 years, and way before Lambo doors were bolt on, so I know what’s going on. In all honesty, a company now sponsors me, but at the time all this happened I was not affiliated with anyone in any way. I was and still am personally offended because I was lied to on multiple occasions. If you are lied to BEFORE you are a consumer, imagine how it will be once you BUY the product? I received a sponsorship partially because I went out of my way to look into things when I had no reason to; as I was just a consumer and not affiliated with anyone at all. I really could have gotten a sponsorship with either of those 2 companies or with Autoloc. In the end, VDC, Inc and Autoloc said they'd "match any offer from Decah. Whatever Decah offered, they’d match." In the end though, I didn't want to be affiliated with a company, which lied to me on multiple accounts. If they lied BEOFRE I was affiliated, what’s to say it won't get worse later on? I mean, they were lying to me outright even after they realized I was not affiliated with Decah or any company in any way. Then finally when they realized I knew what was going on, they changed the tune and offered me that? I mean come on...that’s shady if I every heard of it. They offended me, they treated me like I was dumb, and they lied. Also, I felt the Decah kit was better that them or Autoloc (I hated Autoloc’s). Decah were the ones that designed it @ first, and they had been on the market longer VDC Inc's product IS better than most other companies that ripped off the Decah design, like “number one,” etc. However, I still don't feel they are up to par with Decah. Also, VDC, Inc drills 2 holes in the VDC arm, where-as Decah imprinted "Decah Patent Pending" on it, which if you ask me looks better. I've seen plenty of VDC, Inc ones with hole in the arm and it looks bad. I think the 2 holes are noticeable and cheesy. All in all I would recommend Decah for a bolt on and GT Factory if you don't want a direct bolt on. I don't care for Autoloc’s kit. It looks funky when opened, and all in all looking at it didn't strike me with confidence. Put it this way. They offered me a great price and are 20 minutes from my house, and I went a different direction after seeing it. To there credit though, they DID design there own and they didn't just "lift" a design. If you can get Decah, genuine Decah for $980, that’s a good price. I've talked to people that feel the Decah VDC operated more smoothly and I can tell you right now, Decah’s VDC won't fall down or break on you. Both Decah and the rip-offs like VDC, Inc will need to have the fenders rolled. Also, both will suffer from VDC sag. It’s just the nature of the design. This is where you'll need to adjust the sag adjuster screw periodically, because the door will start to sag down a bit when you open it out before you lift it out. This is just a matter of removing the fender and twisting the screw with an Allen wrench, 6mm I believe. I have never had a problem with Decah’s VDC. It is sturdy when up in the air, and the shocks have held...through both hot and cold weather. I've left the doors up for long periods of time; at shows all day long while working on the interior of the car all day long in the garage. Decah’s product will hold and is quality. I have never heard of the VDC, Inc one having shock failure to be honest, so you should be fine in that since also. However, I have heard of most of the other Decah rip-off’s having shock failure. Some of them within a few weeks install after just regular use. Several people have compared the Decah kit and VDC, Inc kit on another car at shows, and all although both worked...most people felt the Decah was easier open an opened more smoothly. In the end, Decah does make a quality product. Most people feel Decah and GT Factory are the 2 best on the market. Both go about the Lambo door designs in different ways too. I'd look into those 2 companies. GT Factory should be around $999 though as I said you'll need to drill the bolt pattern (welding it on is an option too.) Decah will both right on with no welding, drilling, etc. You really won't go wrong with either company. If Decah is selling for $980, that’s is a very good price for a new Decah VDC. On a side note, Decah is located in Plainsboro, NJ...so if you are in NY like you screen name seems to indicate, that’s considerably closer than VDC, Inc in terms of shipping. If you call up Decah, talk to Kevin. He's one of the owners.
