5" tach in 95 civic

I just purchased a 5" tach for my civic, yet I am not exactly sure where I should mount it. Any ideas? I was thinking on teh dash on the right of the steering wheel but I am not sure.

Re: 5" tach in 95 civic

to be honest, I think a 5" is a bit big! I've seen a lot of them and they never seem to look right, maybe go for a 3'8ins tach and you'll have more options as to where to put it.

A 5" tach is overkill for a honda Civic. Even if you do plan on racing it and would need the visibility, a shift light is much better(and cops won't even notice)

Don't Manual Civic's come with tach's stock? You just want a bigger one to look lake a racer?>_>

No, all civics dont come with tachs stock. My 94 DX is a manual and doesnt have one. I still threw a Autometer Cobalt tach in there. Some people like the look and I have no complaints with mine since now I can acctually see where my swapped engine is reving at.

Re: 5" tach in 95 civic

No, not all manual Civics come with a tachometer already installed.

I mounted mine at the pilar, so that it covered the AC/Heat vent. I've seen people mount it on the center of the dash before too. I had mine on there for a year and a half, and just took it off this past week. I used to see people who knew me, they'd drive up and know it was my car "because of the huge glowing tach in plain view". Personally I'll never put one on my car again, it's amazing how much more of a view I've got when the thing isn't in my way (or at least reflecting on my windshield). It'd be a better idea to sell the tach, and buy a gauge cluster that comes with a stock tach (Si, VX, EX, etc).

You swapped a I4 for a slightly more powerful I4, I presume? I think it is overkill to have a 5" tach on the side. More people should have them in the dash. They do sell them.>_>

Then again, it is his car... Whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, went from the crappy 90 HP SOHC engine to about a 160 HP DOHC engine. For me its just a comfort thing. Working with planes and having them turning their engines mo more than 10 feet away from you at times, I dont trust my ears so much anymore. :/
