How many starts before computer resets??
Last friday, my wife came home with her '96 New Yorker with the 3.5 engine. About 2 miles from home, the check engine light came on and it started skipping. I went out and flashed it and got a 43 code from it. I bought some plug wires on saturday and put them on sunday. I think the actual problem was number 4 cylinder, the spark plug was whiskered. Car runs fine now, the check engine light stopped flashing, but is still on solid. Does anyone know how many "good" starts before it will go out?? I'd pull the battery cable and reset it but she's due for state inspection next month. Here in Massachusetts, they have some new BS where if there isn't an adequate history in your ECM (OBD II), they will reject your car until a certain number of start cycles has occured. So I'd rather not reset it if I can help it.

Re: How many starts before computer resets??
flash it again and see what code comes up this time, usually, the light resets itself once it no longer sees the problem.
