Raced an '05 Corvette last night...

I was out last night hanging with the "racing crowd". Not many people were out.

A guy with a stock 2002 MR2 wanted to race me so we raced. As we were lining up, a red '05 Corvette pulls up along with some other people. I raced the MR2 and beat him by about 3 cars by the time I was in 3rd gear so I shut down.. (had my interior stripped out because we went to the track the night before).

When we get back to the hangout, the guy with the Corvette (he's in his late 40's, early 50's) asked me if I was ready to run him. I thought he was joking around but he was actually serious. I was the fastest one out there besides the 'vette so I guess that's why he wanted to.

I didn't really want to race it because he'd rape me so bad it wouldn't be funny. So they were talking about giving me a "5 second head start", but we agreed to give me a 30mph head start.

So the Corvette is sitting at the light while I'm coming up from behind him holding it at 30mph. When I get next to the vette we both floor it. For a few seconds I'm pulling away of course, but after that I see that I'm not gaining anymore.. he's starting to catch me.. and fast.

We were racing to light pole that almost a 1/4 mile. When we were passing the pole I was ahead by maybe a car and I was doing 110 or so. Just after I passed the pole he FLEW by me.. jesus that thing was fast.

We then turned around and I punched it heading back.. he was about 5 cars behind when he turned around.. he shot past me when I was around 80mph.. by the time I was up to 120mph he was WAAAAAAY up there.. he was probably around 160-170.. who knows.

It was a fun race and really cool to see the new Corvette in action.

Well, according to our agreement on the terms of the race, I won. He said I could have a 30mph head start and that we were racing to a pole that marked almost a 1/4 mile.

When we got back he said I won fairly, but we all joked about it afterwards.. it was all in good fun.

Dude BS i don't believe it. There's no way that puny Vette should've kept up with you after your VVT-i kicked in! I think the supposed "vette" was really a well-disguised honduh....

Yeah good run, need to be on top of yoru game to beat a vette...now I bet the rich mid life crisis dudes gonna be so bothered he lost hell trade in his vette for a Ford GT...but I guess that would be a good thing
