97 Neon 10 - 15 min runtime

Have a SOHC 97 neon - runs for about 10-15 minutes then starts to idle / run funny - then dies. After it dies won't restart just cranks. after it sits for a coupkle hours it will do the same thing.. Getting Codes 12, 11, 54, 55 have replaced cam and temp sensors as well as the coil pack.

On the cold start she runs and idles great like a new car? but after 10 min she bucks and spits then dies.

ps- have check oil and coolant no shine of contamination..

You need OBD2 codes. The generic codes are not clear. Code 11 could be timing belt off 1 tooth, No crank ref signal at pcm, mis-fire adpative numerator at limit, intermittint loss of cmp or crk.

code 11 means start ot code strand, it doesn't mean anything at all. It soudns to me like your computer is shot.... I know a girl who had an eclipse and it did the same thing, it would warm up to operating temp and then die and she would have to wait like 15 or 20 minutes for it to cool down then it would start again. Try getting a J/Y computer and see if that fixes the problem.

Code 11 is not begining of code session. I printed out all the possible ref to that code. Get a book out and read.
Prior to 97 or OBDII it started with 12 and ended with 55. This is not the same. That is a Generic code that was gotten. Your would be better off getting a more up to date scan tool and get the P codes.
Cam sensor would not have stop it from cranking. The crank sensor is the one for that.

You don't need the 300 dollar scan tool to figure out whats wrong with the car. I used to troubleshoot my neon all the time and never used the scanner, as far as having the wrong begining of code strand thing that kinda stuff happens, I haven't worked on the car in a little over a year. Plus if it gave the code for the timing belt it wouldn't nessicarily be any senor at all. Did you take off the timing cover and make sure it didn't jump a tooth? it could have or if the car has allot of miles its possible the belt just stretched and you need a new one... its recommended that they are changd every 60000 miles or something like that. Did you disconnect the battery for 10 minutes after you did all the work to clear the codes? I mean it sounds stupid but that might do it. Also the no cam sensor signal at PCM sounds odd if you had it replaced.... I would check all the wires and everything leading from the sensor to the PCM chrysler wiring is crappy to say the least if your old Cam position sensor shorted out it could have toasted a wire. If all the wires looks good make sure its hooked up right. If you have a multi-meter you can just see if its sending a signal by seeing how many volts are going through it. You don't need to have the car running to do this I don't thing, just have the car keyed on. Check it right at the sensor and then right at the PCM. If everything looks good maybe you got a bad sensor it happens once in a while... I would say try all of that before you go out and buy an OBD2 scanner..

Well here it is : replaced the ignition wiring harness and all is well seems the wiring was shot.....

now just got problems with it running lean and speed sensor...
