Dont bother with a catback that necks down to stock cat flange size. Do a turboback if you want to gain power.

fatfuck

fatfuck here says modern cats dont reduce power much and do a great job of cleaning up during 95% of drive time. I would opt for a high flow cat. another reason would be due to roadside inspections going on in many states. expect a $2500 fine for not having a functioning cat (cali) diameter wise a 3" or more is a must. I would also go with the Greddy.

Re: Best CatBack exhaust GSX99

Has fat fucker switched from a modern highflow cat to a test pipe and picked up a couple mph at the track, on a measly 14b? I doubt it. I also recomdned using a cat in states that have inspections, but I would never go so far as to say they dont reduce power much, even as vague as that statement is. It needs more qualififers. What is the effect of a cat on a 14b vs my T67? Could I flow 64 lbs/min through a high flow cat without losing "much" power? Would I ever try it? No, and no. Blanket statements like that make poeple look like assholes.

But cat or no cat, has nothing to do with the question. I still recomend a full turbo back over a catback. You can get them with highflow cats.

lol

haha, no I have'nt. It all depends on what dude wants. I'm just throwing out my opinion. I dont think he is trying to run 12's or anything by bolting on a exhaust. I do not know where he lives either. Basically, I dont know, so dont take these comments too seriously.

If you don't know, don't post.

Simple.

Kevin is right, an exhaust system is only as good as the point of the MOST restriction, and both a stock DP and cat would choke the hell out of any gains to be had with exhaust. Full turboback, DP and catback with test pipe, or go home. If you live in Cali, you may consider that cat, though.

exhaust is full 3" exhaust; except for in the very front of the dp where it is aprox 2 1/2 for about 4 inches. after that it is a full 3" to the muffler. the apexi dp eliminates the cat.

The exhaust note is nice not ricer and you get very nice gains out of it. He originally mentioned the world sport which is pretty much a waste of money.

maybe if your state has harsh emissions laws and they have to inspect your car you would want to look at a hi flow cat. Im in florida so with no emissions laws im cat less.

Re: Best CatBack exhaust GSX99

MUCH better.

Edit: Just know that 3in mandrel bent piping, homebrew to full titanium, is 3in piping. You are most often paying for a name.

Ok seems as the turbo back exhaust is the best but another question, if I only remove the cat and keep my original exhaust is this a good idea. do I gain some power or not ? GSX 99

Re: Best CatBack exhaust GSX99

If you have the equipment to make a test pipe, you can make yourself a full exhaust, or at least buy a downpipe and make the catback. You might get small gains, but I would recommend saving the money for the real thing.
