Where do I find diagnostic codes?
I have a 97 Dodge Ram 1500, and just put a used engine into it. A few days later my check engine light came on. I'm pretty sure I know how to read the codes by the flashing check engine light, but I don't know what they mean and can't find it anywhere. The code that I recieved was 1-23-1-56. Can you help a girl out?

Diag codes
I also have a 97 Ram 1500 and just bought a code scanner from Discount Auto stores($76.00). The code book I got with it says that a 0123 code is a TPS/Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit High input TPS Voltage High.
The 0156 code is 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 2) I wish I knew more about these 'New-fangled' cars. I'm used to the older ones with NO computers. Good Luck. John M |

I have a somewhat similar question.
I own a 96 Dodge Indy Ram and recently had a "Check Engine Light". Seems that the Truck would start but had a rough idle and the second I took my foot off the gas it would die IMMEDIATLY! So after a few ays of not running, I disscionected the battery to clear the computer and reconnected it back p and it ran like a champ. Now my problem is, did I also wipe out the codes to tell me WHAT the problem was? Roger |
