SPL world records
ok i was just reading some other forums and looking at the posts about spl records.. i think the current record is like 176.1 on a few dif mics.. with i think DDs and SPL D amps..
anyways.. my point was gonna be.. why dosnt anybody use, for example, 2 parthenons (if they would fit in a car).. are there restricstions to the size woofer can be used in the highest all out SPL class?(not sure what its called). It seems like custom woofers could whip DD 9915s.. if this is what they used. not sure what im really talking about here just opening the topic up. any comments?

on the new termlab i think its right around a 175 and the reason no one has used a parthenon YET is because they are still very new and i don't think they were readily available at the start of last season.... well see about the next season though.

The reason no one uses the parthenon is because it would suck for pure spl. Sure it has a lot of displacement, a shitload of displacement actually, but it can't be put in a box. It can't even be used in a sealed box because there can be no baffle for it to mount to. The reason SPL cars can get so loud is because they use the port to do all of their work instead of the sub, without a port or even a baffle at all you couldn't do very well.

no dude the parthenon is not that big baffle the parthenon is the name for the motor theyre all custom and you can order it hoever you want so you can get it as a normal (well normal just times 10) driver.

I don't believe the parthenon can be mounted to a basket though, it includes its own spider. No basket means no surround, no surround means no possibility of a baffle.

2.3" with just a 9v battery. Most woofers cant even move that far with hundreds of volts flowing massive ammounts of amperes...
The Parthenon is a motor struscture that uses XBL^2 and has near 30cm of one way excursion... it is extremely efficent but most inuse at the moment just have a sheet of metal attached to the coil. a surround isnt needed and the spyder is uncluses as part of the motor. it is possible to give the parthenon a surround and basket but it isnt practical. but give adire enough money and im sure they will be happy to make one for you.
