Headlight - Help & advice wanted
![]() I tried to draw this using Illustrator's features of blur, layers, blending (grouping vertical and horizontal glass lines). Since the old-fashioned round lights are much simpler, I started there. Your comments re: how to better draw headlights are welcome. robo Last edited by Roboduck; 03-29-2005 at 03:07 PM. |

Re: Headlight help & Advice
I like it Robo.
Doesn't look like you need much help or advice. If I was to stretch I might suggest you not use a full blend, color to white in a confined area everywhere you apply one. Sometimes s a simple shape of color or 2 overlapping colors will give you a more dynamic look. I think I mentioned masking to you before...I'm not sure...look into it. Like I said that's a pretty far stretch to find a suggestion...it looks great. What's it in? -Lemorris |

Re: Headlight help & Advice
That looks great Robo. Just one suggestion for the outer part of the headlight. Your reflections are too soft and blurred if you want it to look more chrome. I'm going to use this phenominal painting by Roger Hector as an example. Notice the sharp transition between the dark ground reflection and the light blue sky reflection, and also the sharp white highlight at the top.
![]() Awesome work though, Robo. Keep it up! Alex

Re: Headlight help & Advice
Lemorris, Alex... thanks. I'm trying to grasp that masking thing... wow, what a great painting... thought it was a photograph!!! I do see that the sharper colors more clearly define the separation. Thx.. robo

Re: Headlight help & Advice
The headlight looks great, and the painting looks like a photo. Good work on the headlight.
